Snyder Swings at States

As fall sports are wrapping up students are getting awarded, celebrated, and even going to states. Senior Trevor Snyder is a part of Dover’s golf team and was recently at states.

Oct. 8 was the second day of the PIAA State Golf Championship. Snyder was the only athlete of our golf team to go to Penn State University to compete. “I’m used to the atmosphere of competitions. Whether that’s professional or local matches on weekends. I’ve just competed so much.”

In all of the attention that Snyder has received he also got nominated for Athlete of the Week. “I actually didn’t know that I was until the last day of voting. I do think that it’s pretty cool that I was nominated two times.”

Snyder started golfing when he was three years old. “My older brother and dad are my role models. My dad always helped teach me how to play.”

Snyder prepared for this season everyday. He said, “I stuck to my game plan; I also didn’t fool around. I knew what this meant.”

Even through the practice and the stress of competition he knew he was going to make it to states. “I knew I would make it. I had a lot of hope that I was going to make it again this year, and I did.”

Since the season has come to an end, Snyder will miss being an Eagle. He said, “I’m kinda sad that it’s over. It’s worse just because this is my last year playing for Dover. Looking back though I am grateful for my time playing and also the people that I met along the way.”

Snyder now looks ahead to what’s next for him. He said, “I want to go to Penn State York for accounting and marketing. I would also like to play on their golf team.”
