Journalism class joins efforts for homeless

On March 26, 2021, a local teenage drummer named Najeeb Moore Jr. was drumming in the streets of York getting smiles near the market or in the city square with his drumming. His setup included a couple of buckets and some sticks. His purpose for the drumming was to raise money to help the homeless. The story, shared in the Journalism class of English teacher Angela Krebs, has inspired the class to collect donations to support Moore’s efforts.

So far the class has raised about $20, but they hope to earn more. Once the bucket is full or once the year ends, the plans are to meet up with Moore and his father to give them the donations. Several students from her homeroom and several teachers from the school have donated to the bucket so far to help Moore with his intentions to help the homeless.

The bucket for donations can be found in 202, and donations will be accepted until the last day of school. Krebs was able to find Moore’s father on social media and plans to contact him once the fundraising has ended.
