Stonesifer family reflects on Four Diamonds support

Four Diamonds helps families who have a child battling childhood cancer. One of the families that Four Diamonds helped in the past is the Stonesifer family. Eighth grader Izzy Stonesifer had cancer as a child, and her family was helped by Four Diamonds in many different ways. The organization did things like “help pay medical bills, money for gas, and food.”

Stonesifer said, “They brought stuff in when I was sick to help me feel better!”.

Sophomore Ryder Stonesifer, Izzy’s older brother, said that “Four Diamonds has helped my family by paying for a lot of our hospital bills.” This helps take a huge weight off of the family to be able to focus on their child.

Ryder, talking about Dover having a Mini Thon, said “It makes me feel good because I now personally know what it’s like going through it.” He can appreciate what the Mini Thon does for other families because he is one of the families that they helped. He greatly appreciates what Four Diamonds did for his sister and the rest of his family as they, “helped by giving my sister a good group to hang out with.”

Izzy talked about how it felt that she and other students in Dover could help raise money to support families like hers by participating in the Mini Thon being held at Dover Area High School. Izzy said “It makes me feel very happy that people get the opportunity to be part of it.”

It’s also very hard for her knowing how it feels to be one of the families, that are being helped by Four Diamonds because Mini Thon is fun, but the families, like the Stonesifers, are going through painful times.
