Eagles Soar Over Bolts

Last Wednesday the Eagles squared off with the Littlestown Thunderbolts. Dover came away with a decisive 64-23 win. The Eagles improve to 3-3, and Littlestown drops to 0-5.

It was senior Hannah Hayes who got the Eagles started offensively scoring the first 6 points for Dover and finishing with 14. Hayes said, “Being confident definitely plays a factor in how well you perform, if you doubt yourself you will play scared.” She adds “Many people only look at who scores the most, but not who does the hard work getting the opportunities for themselves and their teammates to score, as well as who is doing the dirty work on defense.” She hopes to continue playing basketball when she attends college and hopes to come to a decision by the end of the year.

Leading the way for Dover was junior guard Makenzie Gamber who had 19 points, 9 of those coming from behind the arc. Gamber said, “I watched a lot of film on Littlestown prior to the game and knew what I was coming into after playing them last feels the team’s defense has improved and that our intensity and urge to defend the ball has gone up drastically from the amount of points we were letting teams drop on us last year.” Gamber’s goal for this season is to improve on the defensive end individually and improve upon their record from last season.

Junior Nena Menard added 10 points as well. For Littlestown, Celi Portillo showed great effort, scoring 15 points.

Dover faces off with Northeastern on Tuesday and hope to continue on their path of success. Littlestown hopes to bounce back on Friday when they play against Delone Catholic.
