Dover Area High School students triumphed at ENCORE on May 1, 2022. Three Eagles earned recognition: junior Kylie Snelbaker and seniors Sadie Roser and Emily Skelly.

“It was a lot of fun to watch everyone perform and meet new people!” said Snelbaker, who won an Outstanding Performer Award for her portrayal of the villainess witch Ursula in Dover’s production of The Little Mermaid

“It truly was such an honor to take part in,” said Roser who was also awarded an Outstanding Performer Award for her role as the titular mermaid Ariel in The Little Mermaid. Both Roser and Snelbaker received $500 scholarships for their stunning performances. Roser continued, “It was the perfect way to end my high school career.”

Choral director and vocal teacher Samantha Roberts commented, “I am so very proud of all of our performers. I know I may be biased, but I truly believe that our group had the best overall sound.”

Dover’s performers weren’t the only ones to win big. Skelly was awarded a $1000 scholarship for her academic achievement and integral role as a member of the musical’s stage crew.

ENCORE is an annual event in which high school students from all over York County participate to showcase their best musical numbers from their high school’s musical. The event is open for the public to watch, and judges evaluate students on their musical prowess to award them with scholarships.
