Eagles fall to Lions on senior night

On February 3, Dover Area High School held their annual senior night for the girls’ basketball team. Seniors Riley Mulder and Aaliyah Matthews were recognized and honored for their contributions to the basketball team. Although the girls lost 60-25 against Red Lion, both seniors played aggressively throughout the night. In fact, Mulder was the leading scorer for Dover with an accumulative score of 12 points. 

The girls’ played against Red Lion High School with the starting lineup including: Riley Mulder, Aaliyah Matthews, Brooke Bowman, Paris Dugan, and Michaela Fink. Junior Michaela Fink started off the first quarter with the tip off against the lions. The girls fought the entire quarter to get control of the game, but came up short with the first quarter score being 7-20. 

At the beginning of the second quarter, Matthews stole the ball from the Lions which led to a three pointer. Mulder rushed down the court after the lions made a point and successfully made a layup. Although the girls gained six more points, the quarter ended 13-36. 

After halftime, the girls’ struggled to earn points in the third quarter despite their hard work. Luckily, Mulder stole the ball from the lions and raced down the court making a layup. With a block by Matthews, Mulder was able to get another steal, but was unsuccessful at earning another point. The quarter ended 14-46.
