Eagles slain by the Lions

Friday October 16th Dover football welcomed Red Lion to their home turf for the Eagles’ fourth game of the season. After a hot start on the offensive side of the ball for both teams, Red Lion went into the half with a 36-18 lead on Dover. The Eagles were unable to overcome the deficit, and dropped the game 50-25. 

Despite the loss, there were several standout players in the black and red.

Senior Quarterback Matthew Hoffman threw for 161 yards and two touchdowns on ten completed passes, for an overall QBR of 100.8 for the night (MaxPreps). 

The ball was split up well on the ground, as two Eagles each rushed for a TD, and another for 50+ yards. Senior wide receiver Cameron Fetrow caught four passes for 126 yards and two touchdowns, averaging over 30 yards on each catch.

On the defensive side of the ball, senior safety Tanner Linker had yet another solid game, with ten total tackles. Senior Owen Kennell and  junior Marshall Jackson both recorded a sack. Senior Shane Klinedinst and junior Jordan Stewart both recovered a fumble.

Dover’s next game is this Friday the 23rd, as they travel to South Western to take on the Mustangs. The kickoff is 7:00pm ET. Tune into South Western High School’s Youtube to watch the Eagles dominate!
