Just imagine the streets as your playground, where every turn is a chance to express yourself. That’s the reality for street bike riders. For many street bike riders, these bikes aren’t just a way to get from point A to point B. Street bikes are redefining urban mobility, offering riders a unique blend of freedom, style, and community.
Local rider Nathanial Mummert says the first consideration is the bike you want to ride or purchase. Mummert states what he enjoys and prefers in a motorcycle: “I enjoy the speed and cornering sport bikes provide over cruisers.”
Another crucial aspect to consider about a street bike is the performance. Street bike performance changes throughout generations. Mummert said, “Performance is changing within street bike manufacturers. Each model of a bike has its practical use, but all can be enjoyed on a daily basis with modernization and reservation no matter a high-performance track model or a 50cc puddle jumper.”
Mummert has ridden different styles of bikes. He said, “From the sport bikes I’ve owned, my favorite was a Kawasaki Zx-10R. The balance and control it offered with a considerable power plant made every ride comfortable and exhilarating.”
Mummert said the culture and trends of street bikes have evolved since he started riding. “The cultures and trends change like all hobbies do, but it brings people together from all different walks of life to enjoy nature and the freedom of the open road,” he said.
When riding street bikes, it’s important to know the laws and safety protocols. Mummert gives his opinion about the regulation of laws regarding street bikes. “When it comes to regulations and laws, they’re in place to protect pedestrians more so than the riders themselves. Most laws and regulations are considered guidelines.”
While bike selection is crucial, Mummert emphasizes that street bike safety and who’s in control behind the bars of the motorcycle is important. “Safety is in the eye of the beholder. Walking down the street or driving a motorcycle can be dangerous. It’s more about being aware of your surroundings and being alert to react to the constantly changing factors.”
All drivers should take that advice. Look twice. Save a life.
