Student Section Holds Red Out
November 7, 2022
For the first time in nine years, our Dover Eagles have made it to playoffs. A loud crowd and a good atmosphere is necessary for a good game, but how about the student section?
Senior class president Gary Lang said, “Yes, I do think a loud student section helps greatly, it helps keep the players motivated and can bring the other team’s spirit down.”
Not only does a student section motivate the players but they can motivate the younger generation of students as well, senior Gemma Galligani said, “Having a great student section makes younger kids more excited to come up and join, it’s important to try to get as many people involved as possible to make the game more exciting.”
The theme for this game was red out. “I chose red out because I ran a questionnaire on one theme choice. I then ran a poll where red out had the most votes,” said Galligani. Students seem to have complete control over how to decorate their section.
When putting together what this student section was going to look like, the main focus was boldness. “In the past we usually created creative signs and chose themes based on events or weather. Usually whatever the majority wants,” stated Galligani. This game was no different, the railings were decorated with red and white ribbon, balloons adorned each staircase, and some students even made motivational signs.
Not only was the section itself decorated red, but the people were as well. All the students you saw underneath those Friday night lights were dressed in every piece of red they owned. Showing our pride and love for Dover comes out like no other when football is involved.
