Moonlight Cafe: A Hidden Italian Treasure

Azul Bellot, Staff Writer

The Moonlight Café here at Dover is a hidden Italian treasure that serves pasta, meat, seafood, and other Italian comfort food. Their recipes are authentic. The service is amazing, and the prices are reasonable.

Moonlight Café is located on Carlisle Road and is a bit smaller than most dine-ins. The restaurant has been open for almost a decade and has a rating of 4.7 stars out of five. The restaurant is open Tuesday through Saturday from 11:00 a.m – 9:00 p.m.

Upon entering, I noticed it was small and gave me a claustrophobic feeling. But as soon as I sat down, I was greeted by a friendly waiter. The restaurant had a special “features” sign on one of its walls where it better explained what special feature drink they had or even customer favorites. The restaurant was very elegantly decorated on the inside and the seating was refined.

As I skimmed through the menu, I noticed a variety of Italian-based food but also some American foods. I loved their inclusivity of food, but I was a bit disappointed in the drink options. Prices vary from $6 up to $28, so it is reasonable and worth your money. I ordered the fettuccine crema with shrimp and a lemonade to drink. The food did take a while to prepare, but the meal I ordered came with a side salad. The salad was small, but overall, it was great.

Once I received my order, I noticed that everything was very well prepared. The food was to die for and left me full. I even had to take some back home. The total price for everything was about $22, so I got my money’s worth.

My final thoughts of the restaurant are that it is worth going to for any occasion because the food is so splendid; however, the place is a bit on the smaller side, and wait times could take a while. Nevertheless, I like that you can bring in your wine to this restaurant, as well as make reservations beforehand. Overall,  this place is a great option for a date, a hang out with friends or a family dinner.
