Dover Blue-Out for former coach

Jordan Stewart, Staff Writer

The Dover Area High School softball team is hosting a blue out game on May 22. Teacher and coach Lauren Craig says, “the blue-out is for Randy Rebert” who was the former varsity softball head coach who recently passed away. The game is also to help raise  awareness for prostate cancer, which was the cause of Rebert’s passing.

Rebert was the assistant coach for a number of years before becoming head coach, and he was also heavily involved with the community. The blue-out game will be a slow pitch softball game with the Dover Area High School softball team vs. Dover Area High School staff members.

T-Shirts will be made and sold to help raise awareness for prostate cancer. All donations will go towards the Prostate Cancer Foundation. This game means a lot for the players. Junior catcher Madison Harrington says she is “really just going out to play for Randy.” He coached many of these girls, and his death has left a lasting impact on the players.
